Collaborative/Crowdsourced ACKS Region!

Okay, here’s the idea.

We make a 40 x 30 region of 6-mile hexes, divided in 10 x 10 sub-regions among a dozen people in the following manner:

Half of these hexes (600) will be inhabited, as in the ACKS guidelines for region creation, with 300 families per hex. Each sub-region contributor will have 100 hexes, 50 of which will be inhabited, giving you 15,000 families to build settlements and domains with.

You have dictatorial power of your sub-region to shape as you will, except:

  1. Regions must fit together logically: tundra against desert would need a magical explanation, at least!

  2. No straight lines between regions. Negotiate with your neighbors to make things look organic!

  3. Your sub-region must include 1 settlement, 1 small dungeon/lair, and 1 medium dungeon.

You may also:

  1. Trade or give hexes to other contributors
  2. Trade or give population to other contributors
  3. Give some of your hexes to other people to design, should more than 12 wish to participate (whether you make vassals of them is up to you!)

I suggest we all use Hexographer (there is a free version: http://www.hexographer.com/free-version/) and use the hexes that correspond to the wilderness types on page 244 of ACKS core.

As far as I’m concerned the sub-regions are first-come, first-served.

So for my part, I claim region 6!
