Forum bug report

In the wake of The Dark's mysterious periodic change, I've noticed a forum bug. This page has a column marked "Posts" that contain "XX New" links, where "XX" is the number of new posts since you last visited. Clicking on one of these links takes you to the relevant subforum's list of topics, and scrolls to the position of of the most recently-changed topic... Except that it only scrolls to the most recently changed topic if that topic is on the first page of topics. If it's on the second or subsequent page (as many of the topics recently edited by The Dark are), it just scrolls to the bottom of the first page. This bug makes it hard to find old threads that have been edited, which in turn makes it hard to mark them as read so that the top-level forum page stops putting stars on everything.

Interesting. I'd have to do some research into the code; that's an odd corner case we haven't seen before.

For what it's worth, I plan to fix up the commotion with the edited posts by going into the database and reseting the 'last changed date' of all of those posts in order to clear this out globally for everyone; if I could beg for everyone's patience.

Hopefully its a simple task. I hate to think that you would have to spend a lot of time and effort on cleaning up this mess.

We're getting it sorted. I'll also point out that there was no malicious intent.

OK. I've sorted the database out and updated the relevant fields. The altered posts are still altered, but should no longer show up as new to anyone that hasn't looked at them yet.
