New Autarch Patreon: Axioms

We're launching a Patreon to help us release content for ACKS that doesn't necessarily fit our big Kickstarter-driven release model: New classes, new sub-mechanical systems, explorations of specific themes within the game, short adventure scenarios, and more! Patreon pledges will make this possible by supporting the creation of Axioms, an e-zine supporting ACKS and our other products.

Each issue of Axioms will include at least 4 articles crafted by either our in-house designers and editors, or by our talented pool of writers that are already active in the ACKS community. Our hope is to publish an issue of Axioms each quarter.

For more information, check out our Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/Autarch

And, of course, the existence of Axioms will mean more freelance needs. If you're interested in being a freelancer for Autarch, please let me know via email or private message.

Well, I guess I need to make a Patreon account.

And then figure out how to make my budget work to get those spreadsheets :stuck_out_tongue:

Excellent, please take my money! :D

Works for me!

Looking forward to how this shakes out!

Huzzah! We're about a third of the way towards our first goal after just two days. Thanks for your support!

I'am in!

At the current average pledge amounts, you'd need just a hair over 100 patrons.  This doesn't seem unreasonable considering that the kickstarters are regularly attracting 300-500 people, and if kickstarter backers are already a more dedicated bunch than those who buy the books after they're out, it seems possible that 1/3rd to 1/5th of them might be into the game enough to do ongoing contributions.

Right! I hope so. If not, no worries. I have the Patreon set up to only charge cash if we deliver an update so if we don't hit our goal we're not off on a plank over sharky water.

Patronized!

Now get started!

Sorry about bombarding you with questions on the patreon due to my reading comprehension fail on the difference between king and emp tier.

It's exciting to see how much has come in since the Patreon started, but I'm a little worried because obviously after the initial surge things have slowed down quite a bit, and if I've understood correctly, nothing is going to happen until the pledge total is at least $500?

Pretty sure that's not correct. That $500 mark is a Milestone Goal, at which point a separate, downloadable PDF file will be produced. As further Milestone Goals are reached, the production values on that PDF get better and better. However, posts will be made irrespective of whether or not the Milestone Goals are reached, but they will only sit on the Patreon Blog. This would be consistent with how every other Patreon I've looked at works.

Yeah, that would be consistent with how I know most Patreon's work as well, and this wouldn't be the first time I failed at reading comprehension with this patreon so, you're probably right.  Not sure where I got that idea from.

I understand your confusion, Jard. On the one hand, it seems that the minimum viable amount is $500 (5000 words). On the other hand, it seems that there is a contingency for less (1250 words).

I wouldn’t mind some clarification either though it’s not a huge deal for me.

I do too, but at this point I've posted a question on both the Kickstarter AND the Patreon... I'm pretty sure Alex is tired of hearing from me :-P

Either way I'm just excited to see some of the articles, and for Alex to actually get paid for all the top-notch custom/house rules he puts out.

$500 is the minimum amount to be able to afford to present the articles as a consolidated PDF. Below that I'll still certainly publish house rules but on the Patreon site only. Sorry for the confusion!

Alex, you better start editing. We're just a few patrons away now. Apparently, someone wants to see your spreadsheets.
