Averoigne and X2 Castle Amber

The X2 thread in the general discussion forum inspired me to re-read Clark Ashton Smith's Averoigne stories at The Eldritch Dark. They strike me as very much in the vein of Ravenloft -- action tales set in a gothic horror world.

To anyone here who has run X2, did you make any attempt to flesh out Moldvay's skeletal, four encounter hexcrawl of Averoigne that he went to the trouble of getting permission from the Clark Ashton Smith estate to publish? If so, did you get any inspiration from the Averoigne srtories? Any lusty toad-women, vampire illusionists, or rapacious gargoyles for your PCs to encounter?

No comment as I've never run X2. BUT in working on Heroic Fantasy Companion I keep returning to CAS's work for refreshment of my creative energies.

I wonder if ACKS versions of Zothique, Avereoigne, etc would be well received.

Seconded.

Yeah, absolutely. More CAS = win.

I love me some X2!
